A Christmas Carol has just been published and Dickens is eager to celebrate the season with you in the warm candlelight of the Castle's Great Hall. Share stories of your own Christmases past and be treated to readings from Dickens's Christmas classic along with other seasonal works as award-winning Colorado actor Seth Palmer Harris gives voice to the famed English author. This evening will be filled with sweet treats, hearty laughs, and celebration of the season.

Actor Seth Palmer Harris is a Cherokee Ranch and Castle regular whose murder mysteries and evenings with dead authors are consistently popular features of the Castle. He runs a company called Mad Rush Productions, producing this kind of nonsense, and balances his tendency toward the silly with a serious side, conducting trainings with, among others, law enforcement, medical students, and social workers to build communication and empathy skills. He's based in Colorado Springs and appears throughout the state. 

This is a holiday favorite sure to please the entire family!

An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe at the MAC

Join Edgar Allan Poe, the master of the macabre, for an evening of masque and mirth. For your entertainment, Poe will get your heart racing through a reading of one of his gothic masterpieces along with several of his poems. Join him, too, in discussion of both the morbid and the merry. Feel free to dress for the occasion, with masques and costume encouraged, though not required. The Manitou Art Center has graciously agreed to provide a bar to help ease the nerves, with beer, wine, and a surprise themed cocktail available for purchase.

Poe shall be portrayed by local actor Seth Palmer Harris, a veteran of the stage, whose performances as Poe, Dickens, and Twain are acclaimed throughout the Front Range.

The ghost of Poe appears at the Castle in gratitude and celebration for Tweet Kimball's great-great grandfather John Allan who took Poe in when he was left parentless by the death of his mother. Poe will be reading from his acclaimed poetry and short stories, guaranteeing an evening of both horror and humor.

You are cordially invited to an evening with Edgar Allan Poe, whose ghost has annually graced the Cherokee Ranch and Castle these many years in celebration of the great-great grandfather of Tweet Kimball who took Poe in after he was orphaned by the death of his mother. Wear your most extravagant masque to ensure your spirit's safety but know you're in good hands as award-winning Colorado actor Seth Palmer Harris gives voice to Poe's ghost, providing an opportunity to speak with the legendary author and literary critic. Poe will also be reading his celebrated short story, The Masque of the Red Death, a sombre and appropriate yarn for the occasion.
